Tax Installment Agreement

Tax Installment Agreements/Payment Plans
Don’t overpay!!

Contact us immediately if you have a tax liability or a current installment agreement that you can’t afford or have defaulted on (IRS CP 523 Notice), or will soon default on.  Don’t wait to get Levied, get ahead of the problem and get the professional representation you deserve.

First, we will not assume that an installment agreement is your only option; the STC Tax Team will evaluate your case to see if you qualify for an Offer In Compromise, Penalty Abatement, Injured or Innocent Spouse, or an Installment Agreement. We will also review the statutes of limitations, and if preparing or amending tax returns, will reduce or eliminate your tax liability.

Second, we will negotiate an Installment Agreement (if it is the best option) that fits both your budget and the facts of your case. We will negotiate the absolutely lowest amount the IRS and/or State tax agency will allow.

We try to ensure that the IRS or State tax agency is only provided the minimal amount of information legally required to achieve this goal. We then encourage our clients to make strategic extra payments, if and when they can afford it, to reduce Penalties and Interest.

It can be dangerous to attempt to negotiate an installment payment agreement on your own. Depending on how much you owe, the IRS or State tax agency may require you to provide detailed financial information prior to agreeing to an installment payment agreement.

The IRS or State tax agency will then use this information to determine how much they want you to pay and frequently this will result in financial disaster for you.   The large number of Installment Agreements set up directly by taxpayers that default is proof that the Installment Agreement amount should not be determined by IRS or State agents.
